Thrivent Choice Dollars
As many of you may be aware, Thrivent did a number of changes in their fraternal giving this past year.  There are no longer 3 members on the congregation board.  Each church needs a congregational advocate to maintain connections between Thrivent, the county board, and your congregation.  Many of the churches in Marshall County have not appointed their advocate and the congregation is not getting important mailings. Verona Poolman is Zion’s Thrivent congregational advocate and would be willing to assist Thrivent members.  “Choice Dollars” that are not directed by Thrivent members in 2010 will be awarded to someone else who can choose the recipient, so please make a decision soon.

This spring members were sent an email or card in their Thrivent magazine to vote for the charity of their choice.  This was the first $1,000,000 that Thrivent distributed to national charities. In order to receive Thrivent choice dollars, members must have $800 in premiums or a value product of over $20,000.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members who qualify should have received a letter in August inviting them to direct “Choice Dollars” to the Lutheran congregation, school, or agency of their choice.  Please strongly consider directing your “Choice Dollars” to Zion Lutheran Church of Warren as “Choice Dollars” replace the supplemental funds that used to be given for church suppers and the like.

Back Entrance Fund
On September 19, a voter’s meeting was called to assess the congregation approval/disapproval on whether to move forward with the construction of the new back entrance.  The construction of the entrance was presented to the voters and accompanied with an estimate of the cost to the church.  The vote was in favor of moving forward with the project.  Currently the estimate is at $16,000.
  Zion's Fall Bazaar
It is time to become organized for our Annual Fall Bazaar.  This year the Bazaar will be held in our Church Fellowship Hall on November 5, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

Our past Bazaars have done well to support our congregation’s financial obligations.  We ask your Cooperation and support so that our 2011 Bazaar will also be a big success.  The Bazaar gives each an opportunity to use the TALENTS AND GIFTS THAT GOD has given us to share with others.

Committees have been designated to arrange and help in pricing crafts, plants and vegetables.  Other Committees will help with baked goods, lunch, checkout and packaging.  REMEMBER, bring your New or gently used items for the White Elephant tables, No clothing please.  NEW – PURSE SALE

Bazaar items may be brought to the church on Friday November 4th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and/or Saturday, November 5th, 8:00 – 10:00 am, so we can be ready when the people arrive.

PLEASE COVER ALL BAKED ITEMS WITH CLEAR PLASTIC WRAP.
Lunch will be served during the sale and each family is asked to bring one pie (Apple, Blueberry, Peach, or Pumpkin) for serving.  Please put your name and choice of pies on the sheet on the church bulletin board.
